Atlantech-Lightower Ashburn DC By-Pass Fiber Route Ribbon Cutting

On April 24, 2017, at 1:30 pm, at the Atlantech Online Rockville Data Center, County Executive Isiah Leggett will cut the ribbon and officially open the Lightower Ashburn DC By-Pass Fiber Route, a low latency, short distance, ultra-high capacity fiber route between Montgomery County and the data centers of Ashburn Virginia.

The Lightower route passes under the Potomac River to directly connect Montgomery County to the heart of the Internet in Ashburn, through which 90 percent of East Coast Internet traffic passes. Lightower has partnered with local data center and broadband service provider, Atlantech Online, which operates local data centers in Rockville and Silver Spring to enable business customers in Montgomery County to access Lightower’s Ashburn Fiber DC By-Pass from Lightower fiber deployed in the County, and from any of the other major carriers whose fiber connects to the Atlantech Online Data Centers.
