ISDNISDN
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is a set
of special standards for digital transmission. ISDN
can deliver up to five times the transmission speed
of analog technology using the same copper phone wires
because a computer can connect directly to the telephone
network without first converting to analog. ISDN combines
the ability to transmit both voice and data services
over the same wires.
ISDN is generally available in most urban areas in
the United States and is popular for home and small
business users because it provides much faster access
speeds for a modest increase in cost.
