Sustained Transfer Usage

We sample your actual usage every 5 minutes, we then average the total and post the result as a 5 minute usage point on your usage graph. Over the month, we will continue to plot the 5 minute snapshots, which total about 8,640 points plotted on the graph. We then take the top 5 percent of your usage (432 points or 36 hours) and throw it out! To see an example graph go here.

Your usage is determined based upon the highest remaining usage plotted. If your usage is at or lower than 128 kilobits per second (kbps) after we've taken off the top 5%, you will not receive any additional billing. Any usage over the 128 kbps will be billed at $0.90 a kbps.

This method of billing provides you with a number of advantages.

1. Any usage bursts that are atypical of your bandwidth requirements are not charged to you.
2. This equates to receiving approximately your highest 36 hours of bandwidth usage free each month.
3. Like our network, our billing is scalable - the cost of entry is reduced and your bill will only increase as actual bandwidth usage occurs.
4. You only pay for the highest of your one-way traffic. This is important: we do not add your incoming and outgoing bandwidth to get your total bandwidth to be billed. Whichever one is higher - incoming or outgoing - is the one we will use to calculate - many of our competitors add incoming and outgoing bandwidth together to charge higher rates - Atlantech does not.
