Business and Government-serving ISP
empowers users to filter unwanted email out of their
inbox
Silver Spring, MD - May 12, 2003 - Atlantech Online,
a super-regional Internet Service Provider located in
suburban Maryland, is pleased to announce a spam-filtering
solution that helps its customers keep unsolicited commercial
email (UCE or "spam") out of their inboxes. The service
is included as a standard feature for all customers
using Atlantech Online's email servers.
"Spammers are relentless in their efforts," said Ed
Fineran, President of Atlantech Online. "Atlantech Online's
Spam Identification Service empowers its customers to
clean spam out of their inbox and to place the unwanted
email into the trash can, where it belongs."
SPAM is bulk email that arrives in an email box that
a user does not want and did not ask for. Atlantech
Online's Spam Identification Service will allow customers
to prevent unsolicited emails from reaching their inbox.
This service will scan each message as it is delivered
to an inbox, and process it to see if it appears to
be SPAM. Based on its processing rules, the service
will then add an additional header field to the email
message stating the probability that the message is
SPAM. The content of the message is not touched, and
therefore is transparent to the user. The customer will
simply setup rules either on the email server or in
their email client (such as Outlook or Netscape) to
look at the header added by the Spam Identification
Service and process the message based on that.
