Setting up Smarthosting with Atlantech

LastUpdated: 8/13/2009

This article describes what smart hosting is and how to set up your email client or server to use Atlantech's mail servers as a smart host.

Q: What is smarthosting?
A: Smart hosting is used to deliver all outbound email (from LOCAL users) to a specified SMTP Server for final delivery. For example, you might have an internal mail server running without direct access to the internet, or you might simply want to send all outbound mail to your ISP's Mail Server to reduce the load on your internal network.

Q: How do I set up my mail client or mail server to use Atlantech as my Smart Host?
A: The first thing you will need is a mail account with Atlantech. We will set up a special smarthost account for you to use; typically smarthost-<customer-ID> and a randomly generated password. For the most part, setting up your mail client to smart host to another mail server is nothing more than editing your outbound mail settings.

Below are some links to common mail clients and mail servers with instructions on how to set them up to smart host to Atlantech's mail server.
